Quick Take

Embark on an epic adventure as Zelda, tackles the Breath Of The Wild, a truly remarkable game. Experience the same adventurous journey and journey through Hyrule, with the ‘open world’ concept, new enemies, smooth gameplay, and more.

Please note, this game is not new per se, just new to me. I’ve been putting off the Nintendo Switch for what feels like a life time. It’s on my list of consoles to purchase at some point… so this article will cover more of the experience from a viewers perspective. I would encourage you all to check out @shikkaro’s gameplay, with roughly 23 video segments, providing a lot of content. A huge shout out for the coverage. Moreover, now, let’s get into the game!

Gameplay, Hud, Enemies, Story

Starting with the storyline, conquer the Hyrule land, a breath of fresh air. It remains smooth even after more than 7 years since it’s launch. Bend time, climb, and create with the power of ‘bending time’. The HUD is easy on the eyes, helpful and easy to follow. It is non-intrusive, clean-lined and straightforward (meaning limited screen real estate, simple and helpful) as a HUD should be. Sometimes these elements can be a distraction, with moving parts (or mechanics), aggressive angles and create distractions. Yes, elements in the HUD do move, and change as activities progress. However, the HUD in this game is appealing and non-intrusive allowing for more focus on the game itself. The storyline and game play would remind you of The Legend of Zelda, explosions and such with elements shared from The Ocarina of Time. AS such, a long time console user will be familiar with. It fits nicely in the Zelda series progression.

Enemies are fun and challenging, as are the puzzle and strategy elements included in the game. The game brings back memories of the late 80’s; certainly nostalgic. Enemies complement stage play, contributing to the storyline progression. The game has held up well and is ready for it’s companion game released in September 2024. Enemies have more advanced AI systems at play in Breath Of The Wild. The simple 2D-likeness and 3D simulation in Nintendo games contribute to their staying power over the years

Patience, Hours Of Content, Content Creator

Lastly, thank you for the game coverage @shikkaro, a subscriber myself. I love the content, the play-throughs and each adventure you take on. I’m very thankful for the content you put out there. Without you and other gamers, I’d miss more than 70% of the games out there.

I love the video and the complete game play-through like the latest videos on Warhammer 40k, with and without commentary or frame share; shout out @shikkaro. Same to the Grumps, Game Grumps and The Legend of Zelda.

Batman Arkham Collection

I recently purchased the Batman Arkham Collection for the PS5, and it’s been a great choice of games over the years, despite their age. The collection includes Batman Arkham Night, and Batman Return to Arkham. Right off the bat, I’m having some troubles with the controller setup, but it’s not a new issue – I just need more hours/time to get used to the PS5 controls. I enjoy a mix of old and new games, like NES, SNES, N64, and Dreamcast), so I’ll need to put in some time to get the hang of it, just like we did for MLB The Show ’23,  NHL 24 etc. Personally, I prefer the touch pad controls over toggles or  joysticks for movement and camera views.

Bumpers and Spacers

Side note: I’m surprised time is needed, cause this “new” controller setup is more like flying a drone with the throttle on one joystick and yaw and roll on the other. Flight by sight is similar, while FPV is definitely more like the new engine games. So, the first takeaway might be this controller setup. I have some time to figure out the controller setup on older game engines.

Additional note: this is not a compliant per se, it’s a time and effort thing. In an effort to gain confidence and comfort in the new system, there is a need to grind out the controller setup. Furthermore, I’ll provide an update on the controller mod’s, extensions and cushions. I thought I would give these a go to see if they shorten up the controller hesitation, and over steering or movement. These two mods might do the trick.

Battle Tank, Good Buy, New Batman

Gameplay looks flawless, no performance hesitation. Performance is spot on, making it very helpful for those Bat-mobile (tank) areas where you need to jump and crawl your way through Gotham. It is also budget friendly, making it a great alternative to the new games here in 2025, Justice League shooter., PVP.. So, it’s a budget-friendly win for bargain game shoppers, collectors or those just looking for great second hand replays. I would encourage you all to check out @theradbrad or @shikkaro’s gameplay for great content. There are others, but I prefer the presentation from these two content creators.

The Bat-mobile in game ‘play’ is excellent. It can tear down walls, lift elevators, blast through enemy drones and tanks. This is the kind of Batman game it is. You can crab walk, speed throughout the city and then slingshot your way out  of the cockpit, up and above the cityscape to takedown criminals, eliminate obstacles, and defeat Scarecrow, The Riddler and their minions. Don’t forget, Harley, Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, and more, even the Riddler all wants in on the Gotham crime payday.

Check out the Arkham Collection, while we wait for more information on the new Batman games.  It is the follow-up to Justice League, the Arkham Trilogy and previous games. It’s a great game series too, reminds me of Spiderman I,  II, in away, may be a little AC (Assassin Creed) series. Moreover, the games have great villains, great storyline, classic Batman game. Awesome game.

Keep Moving, @Youtuber

Lastly, feeling stuck? Keep moving forward with these content creators for game coverage: @shikkaro, @theradBrad and/or @stealthy. There are many more creators out there, but these particular ones consistently produce high-quality videos, walkthroughs and full game footage for those who may need an extra tip.

Visit and read my other video reviews, dating back to the early days. I’ve covered classics like The Legend of Zelda, as well as some older titles such as Kung Fu or Contra, which are some of my first games wayback when. Don’t miss them,

Through The Jungle, Battleships and Fighter Planes

Take a ride on jungle canoes, fly World War 2 airplanes, fight enemies in the Great Pyramids of Gaza or take flight in a World War 2 Battleship via the Manhattan Project… and speaking of the Manhattan Project, you’ll have to dive deep into the archives for more on that. Befriend the locals, a co-narrator, and experience end times; a battle of biblical proportions (literally).

I don’t want to give the Great Circle story, nor the twist and turns along the away… I’ll let the work speak for itself, check out @TheRadBrad’s playlist as he covers the entire series, from start to finish. However, I do want to compliment the efforts, and share a little more about the game. The Great Circle was developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Software; an epic Indiana tale.

Released on 12/9/2024, this Indiana game is packed with puzzles, combat, hand-to-hand takedowns, gun play and more. It has everything a new game should have and then some. It’s got it all. The Indiana storyline is alive and full of mystery, with challenging enemies, witty one liners, everything you’d expect from an Indiana title – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Check it out on Steam, Xbox, desktop and PS5.

Dive into Ice Hockey, a 1988 Classic NES Nintendo Entertainment System video game.

Quick Take

If you can find an NES console, the game and some free time, all more difficult to find these days. Choose a team, set a speed, select a duration, create a team profile, and hit the ice. Simple.

Among the hockey titles, Blades of Steel, NHL 98, NHL 2024, and Ice Hockey, the original NES Ice Hockey game might just take the cake. The differences, are significant, such as more control in the newer games, can sometimes be too much in my opinion. Take it for what it is. There are moments when I simply want to pickup a game, play, enjoy that time, and then set it down. With the newer games, there is often a story mode or a “get into the league” challenge.

In contrast, NES Ice Hockey is all about grabbing a stick and just playing. I believe that’s way it remains at the top of the list of hockey games… maybe tied with NHL’98, but it’s been too long for both. The NHL series of games has some tricks and scoring tips, but the newest version’s AI (NHL 2024) accounts for those said moves, which seems to take away some of the skill from 97′-’98. It’s a bummer, more skill required I suppose. Getting down to the basics, I love the simplicity of grabbing a stick an playing the NES Ice Hockey game…

The play-ability, in-game challenge, speed and accuracy are key in the NES game. The fighting scenes are a bit odd, fun, as it looks like two whirling dervishes glitching out, it’s quite amusing. While some of the other games mentioned above refine the fighting button combinations, and cut-scenes… this is something the game lacks in creativity. Not a reason to skip this as a “buy”. More so, it’s a 30 year old relic, so it’s a matter of appreciation for those developers. Which is fine, it doesn’t take away from the game nor the nostalgia.

Moving past the fighting scenes, the Zamboni cut-scene is great for periods and half-time, goalies… no complaints here! Truly, this game is a gem for nearly 40 years. It’s amazing to think that these original NES console games have had a 40 year shelf life. Who would have thought that at 8, 9 or 10 years old, I would be writing about them 40 years later?

Next, thanks for the coverage @worldOfLongPlays, love the video and complete game play-through. I can always count on the full game from your channel. Shadows by@Shirrako

@Shirrako Shadow Video

Lab Work – Shadow Of The Colossus Video – Full Game

EPIC adventure, Shadow Of The Colossus PS5, a *remake of the PS3 Shadow’s video game.

Quick Take

Choose a character to tackle the Colossi, experience epic game play, adventure and more. It’s simply an amazing adventure game – Shadow Of The Colossus Review.

Take on the Colossi, each entity leading you deeper into the abyss. Battle the most epic beasts in the wild, challenge yourself to take on the epic sea dragon (an electric sea monster). Moving along, it’s been awhile since my last Gods of War game, and it reminds me of the scalability, environment and smoothness of the gameplay.

First, you’ll tackle and fight behemoth after behemoth, titan after titan… Sand dragons, worms, sea creatures, rock monsters… This action-adventure game is simply epic. The storyline is easy to follow, all in an effort to save a soul, the truth of which is revealed only at the end (spoiler). Each challenging, shadowy creature lurking around provides a piece of our hero’s friend’s soul or life force which is revived only to know the truth and meaning of their actions.

Epic Battles

Each battle builds on the next, with various challenges presented by battles and bosses. It feels very Black Myth… not saying there is a connection, just has that same vibe. More over, the graphics (Shadow of the Colossus) may not be as good as Elden or Black Myth Wu Kong. However, you can see where I’m coming from. The bull-like and sea creature  are at the top of my bosses list… the flow and fight sequence is just brilliant. Additionally, in each battle sequence, our hero is challenged with natural enemy evasive tactics and puzzles that ultimately lead to their demise.

HUD, Scale and View

Next, the in game HUD is simple and easy to consume (thanks to @shirrako with no intrusive voice or frame overlays). Sometimes this makes sense for play-throughs, how-to-plays or game strategy. Some food for thought, if you haven’t figured it out, just following along is great like watching a Greece Epic. Next, the view is nice, that over-head 45 degree angle, with zoom offers a great perspective and adds to the ambience and experience. The scale is awesome (flight, underwater activities, caves) and flows nicely. The sky and water effects, swimming, horse riding, landscape… just brilliant.

Thirdly, the game is unreal.  A Souls-like with elements of God’s, and Elden Ring. The game refreshes fast considering it’s 3 years old or more by now. Make a note, Sony originally released a Shadow’s game out in 2005 for the PS2. And, @Shirrako posted the video three years ago, garnering just under 2 million views for this play through alone. Hoping to grab a copy (I will), it’s on my shortlist of games to add in 2024.

Lastly, thank you for the coverage @shirrako, I love the video and the complete game play-through without commentary or frame share. Super Castlevania Video

Game Play-Through

@lordKayoss’s Super Castlevania Video

Lab Work – Super Castlevania Video – Castelvania IV Coverage

Dive into the Super Castlevania IV Video, a 1994 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) epic adventure.

Quick Take

Gamestop or Ebay classic game choice, pick up any of the Castlevania games in the series (regardless of console). Simon Belmont vs Dracula, like Tom and Jerry, Batman and The Joke, classic good vs evil game. This game is truly an epic, genre defining game. Remaining  relevant today for you gamers out there. Specifically, those that enjoy Metroid-vania style games. Including these titles: The Last Faith, Blasphemous I, II and more.

Furthermore, a great follow up to the NES/Game Boy series games: NES – Castlevania I, II, III GB – Castlevania I, II. There were a few arcade games I never got the chance to play in the arcade, which is a bummer… So, for reference there is a huge jump between GB Castlevania II and SNES Super Castlevania IV and Dark Souls for example.

The Castlevania Series

Those of you who are new to the Castlevania series, or new title, be prepared for an adventure. The goal is taking down Dracula and his minions. Do so, be agile, climb, jump, dispatch enemies quickly and solve puzzles. The games ‘in series’ are fairly quick to play/playthrough. The older games, in my opinion are a little less forgiving unless you’ve built up a toolkit on ‘how to solve’ the enemy ‘ai’ (enemy IQ, or artificial intelligence).

Additionally, my two cents, like the Mario (watch any early SNES/NES even PS or XBox speed-run, this will help to show specifically enemy IQ or ai), most of the early games have patterns and similar enemy IQ, just find the pattern and dispatch of the enemies accordingly.

Next, thanks for the coverage @lordkayoss, love the video and voice over, this was one of the first games I completed back in 1994 or 1995. In any case, check out the Lordkayoss playlist on Super Castlevania IV on YouTube Logo YouTube… You can always see our video playlists, or check the video category on our website.

Warhammer 40K 2 Video

A Warhammer Third-Person View

@theRadBrad Warhammer Play-through

Video – Watch Warhammer 40K 2 Video

Warhammer 40K 2 Video, @theradbrad’s play-through by Saber Interactive September 2024 release.

Let’s start with some context, I was hoping that @theRadBrad would cover this game, not a typical third-person shooter, or action RPG played on his channel. Boy, was I right about this one.

I can’t believe that 40K Space Marine 2 turned out to be another huge title fro the year. That’s Elden Ring DLC, HellBlade 2, Stellar Blade, Black Myth, Ronin and Warhammer all in one year. There are certainly others (games) in the mix here that I’m skipping over…

Video Backlog, DLC’s and Other Channel Specifics

Not done on purpose, just highlighting the games in his backlog viewable this year. For what was a big year back when Elden Ring was release, you have a DLC that could take up the mantle, a Warhammer game and Black Myth Wukong. I’m blown away, gobsmacked by the quality of games being produced and featured on his channel.

Rewind to 2022 – 2023, where we saw the release of Spiderman 2, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, RE (Remakes), Hogwarts, Alan Wake 2, and more. There are some serious games there* in that lineup, but not all of them. For one gamer and content creator, Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok stand out… However, there are still a far fewer titles in the drop zone for 2024, such as Assassin’s Creed Shadow, which promises to shake up the samurai class.

What Is Next

More games are on the horizon, here in the 4th quarter. For me, I’m considering the Metroid-vania style The Last Faith or Blasphemous 2… Alternatively, I might revisit God of War or return to Elden Ring, despite being less than 1% complete after over 24 hours of gameplay. It’s crazy to think that less than 1% of the game has been completed.

Super Punch Out Video

Full Play-through

@lordkayoss Does Super Punch Out Boxing in 4k

Video – Watch Super Punch Out

Super Punch Out  Video, @lordkayoss’s play-through by Nintendo from 1994.

Quick Take

First, I never had a chance to play Super Punch Out, so this is a game I’ve always wanted to play. Shout out to @lordkayoss for putting this video together, as I mentioned this game was on the bucket list per se, as I’ve always wanted to play the game… goal being playing another boxing game as successful as the original Mike Tyson’s Punch Out! I think Kayoss does a fantastic job presenting another epic play-through. @Zallard1’s blindfold runs are epic, making Super Punch Out boxing lore even more exciting. Kayoss guides us through the double circuit, with the first circuit serving as a warm-up or training round.

The second circuit features CPU AI that changes offensive and defensive strategies, unlike the first circuit. It’s great to see Super Punch Out back on the list of videos to watch.

I recommend checking out @lordKayoss’s play-through. Additionally, @Zallard1 showcases a blindfolded run of Nintendo Punch-Out!! Wii Boxing. Yes, blindfolded. Check that out.

Stay tuned I’ll cover @LordKayoss Super Castlevania IV play-through in the next few weeks. A quick shout out to Kayoss for the Super Punch Out coverage. Watch this video and more on Super Punch out Video on YouTube YouTube or explore other videos in the video category.

Steelrising Video

Let’s Play Steelrising

@FightinCowboy Souls-like RPG Video

Video – Steelrising Video, A Let’s Play

Steelrising Video is available now, @fightinCowboy play-through (Let’s Play), of Steelrising…

Quick Take

Grab a copy of Steelrising, Steelrising is an older Souls-like action RPG game (first released in September. 2022) by Nacon. A steampunk-souls-like game an epic robot fighter… This is a “buy” for me and also on the short “buy” list.

Like other souls-like games, be prepare for a slog, a challenging and epic experience. While some gamer pros (content creators) make it look easy, it is not.

I’m not sure how realistic an edited video, showing a few blockers here and there (the videos are edited down for compression, length etc.), so take that warning for what it is worth. I like the live or like live Let’s plays as for me I can gain a better understanding of the game and it is going to be extreme challenge.

I’m also prepare for the impassable, and impossible at times seemingly impossible; but those obstacles will eventually be overcome. I anticipate that some farming time will be necessary, so it’s best to plan for that now. This preparation will make it easier when you find yourself relying on the internet for help. Let’s dive in! A big shout out to @fightinCowboy for both the walk-through and Let’s Play videos… these will surely come in handy soon.

Black Myth Wukong Video

Wukong Walk-Through

@theRadBrad Black Myth Wukong

Video – Watch Black Myth Wukong

Black Myth Wukong Video, @theRadBrad walk-Through.

Quick Take

Black Myth Wukong is a new action RPG by Game Science. At first glance, this is a fantastic game! I picked this up late December to have a go. Thanks to @theRadBrad, I was able to see multiple endings and whatnot. The level of game play, development, story etc. is all top tier. I would say, this game is everything; this game is off the charts. Secondly, the video quality of the content is superb. Honestly, I don’t keep up with upcoming games or what’s set to launch. That’s why I rely on content creators like Brad, Kayoss, and the NES Play-through folks who are experts at what they do and great to have around.

Next, I have no idea what’s to come in the gaming world, but if this game is just a small glimpse of what’s to come; graphics, story, voice acting, performance all working together. Above all, the realism is there, but with a good mix of Chinese lore. The lore here might be worth spending a little more time on for someone who wants more information. It’s like Warhammer in the fact that the backstory is worth poking around, exploring and watching other video where it makes sense.

RE DLC Shadow Of Rose Video

Classic Resident Evil Horror Survival DLC

@Shikkaro RE DLC Shadow Of Rose Video

Lab Work – RE DLC Shadow Of Rose Video – Full Walkthrough

Embark on a horror venture, with the Resident Evil Shadow Of Rose, a classic RE expansion that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the game.

Hot Take

Tough game to pick up and roll with, Shadow of Rose is a great Resident Evil horror expansion. Historical play, skills and experience goes far (will carry the average player beyond the puzzle intricacies, resilience and boss difficulty) in this DLC. Shikkaro takes us deep into the hearts and minds of the Resident Evil series with the Shadows of Rose DLC. The Village at the time, won Game of the Year and sold more than 10 million copies/units (to date). Shadow of Rose, being a DLC, is not just a boring update. Play as the Ethan’s daughter (Rose) and conquer The Village DLC game.

Although the game is not new, it delivers a cold surreal terror within Rose’s world filled with twists, turns, evil bosses, soul reaper zombie types, the mold and jump scares. The nearly 4 hour DLC run will keep you on edge, as you run, jump, solve puzzles and navigate through the depths of the village underground. The expansion was made available in October 2022 and is playable on PC, PS4/PS5, and Xbox series console.

Even if you’re not a RE expert, the game stays true to the franchise’s roots and offers an epic storyline reminiscent of the early survival horror games. The Last Faith Video Review

Let’s Discuss The Last Faith Video Review

The Last Faith Video Review

@fightnCowboy Play-through The Last Faith

Lab Work – Review – The Last Faith content produced by @fightnCowboy

Another Metroid-Vania style Let’s Play by @fightinCowboy, an excellent play-though. We need more of these indie fighting games like this!

About The Last Faith

The Last Faith Video Review, is a new classic mashup with a ‘Metroid-vania’ backdrop and game treatment. Marching along, carrying on the modern Metroid-vania-style games. @fightCowboy is masterful in his play-through, the reason I’m buying the game and the reason I follow his content. The Last Faith was initially released in November 2023 on PS5/PS4, XBox, Nintendo, and PC. The game was developed by Steam by Kuni Souls Game and Playstack on the Unity Engine

This Souls-like, vampire-like fighting game is golden, a gem. First released on November 15, 2023, this game screams perfection, reminiscent of a cross between Souls, Castlevania, Elden Ring, and the Blasphemous series. It’s an absolute gem of a game. The game is a must-buy and is on my wish list, as I’m still working on Elden Ring while writing this article. Another Indie ‘Metroid-vania’ type game (I don’t mean another Indie game being bad in this case)… this is a great example of non-mainstram gaming at its finest.

PS5 Controllers (Modern)

I’m going to take a chance here and say that I probably lean towards Blasphemous and The Last Faith because they remind me of the Castlevania Series I grew up with. The controls are the main issue for me. I’m honestly struggling with the dual-stick, could be my age or the number of controllers I’ve had to memorize to this point. May be it’s the sensitivity of the thumb-sticks. To better describe it, it feels like playing Golden Eye, Counterstrike, or Halo… It’s like a drone remote, and it can be tricky at times. I just can’t seem to get the right motion for the camera and perspective stick. For example I just can’t find the right motion to play Elden Ring.

However, The Last Faith is next on my list of games to purchase despite the thumb-stick challenges. I’m  sure there will be come new or difficulties with it as well, but since the game is presented in 2D, horizontal scroll view like Metroid-vania style , it reduces the level of stress and frustration compared to first or third personal views.

Game Play

Game play, characters, bosses, do more of it. The Gothic and vampiric amalgamation gives off a good vibe and the Unity engine seems to work well for this Indie title. I believe the Metroid-vania treatment attracts old-school gamers, while enhancing playability for thos in the younger generations who grew up on the action RPG genre. A shout out to @fightnCowboy for the play-through the quality and skill displayed are unmatched. This aligns with my enjoyment of the game, as I can immerse myself in the gameplay and envision myself playing along. This helps me learn the game, acquire skills, and apply when I’ve learned from the play-through. Thank you for your efforts.

Buy or No Buy and Follow @fightinCowboy

So, this is a buy and here is why. It’s a newer Castlevania type game, love the Simon and Dracula series from some 30 years ago, specifically 1994’s Super Castlevania IV, more on that soon as @lordKayoss has a play-through I have to post. I use a different scale, not a 0-100, but more NPS (Net Promoter Score), ‘how likely am I to pass, hold or buy a game in the next 6 months?’. “Pass” means is I’m likely not going to buy or review. “Hold” is that ‘meh’ or in-between status, where theROI (purchase to entertainment factor is off) is iffy. It’s not a no, but I may watch the game online or a play-through to understand the premise. Then there is the “Buy” category, and The Last Faith, is 100% a buy.

For comparison, or to communicate what is on my buy list there are three games in total. A few other games that have peaked my interest, creeping up on my buy list is Black Myth Wukong Video and the Elden Ring DLC (read the review, I plan on tackling Elden Ring more in the 4th quarter). Which was not out at the time of @figthncowboy play-through. So, here are my current “Buys”: The Last Faith, Black Myth and the new Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Official World Premiere Trailer – is by Ubisoft Quebec and Ubisoft slated for November 2024. More to come on all three titles.

The Last Faith Video, is a new classic mashup with a ‘metroid-vania’ backdrop and game treatment; more importantly carrying on the modern metroid-vania style games.

Hot Take

This might be one of those games that stick around, like Blasphemous, Blasphemous II, Metroid or Castlevania. I love this game, the feel, the Metroid-vania style, the back story, and the battles. It’s a ‘buy’ for me and is on my list to be purchased. With so many titles, games out there, from PC games to PS5, The Last Faith is the kind of game I want on my console when its time to get serious. Although MLB The Show, Elden Ring and NHL get most of the playing time. The Last Faith will be next in line, hence the ‘buy’ recommendation. I’m a big fan of these 2D world games, horizontal maps, etc., very nostalgic for my childhood. For what it is worth, these games have always landed on my buy list. We didn’t have many games, but the ones we had like Mega Man, Super Mario, and Castlevania, you get the picture.

If not, The Last Faith is another title to add to the list of buys, when you can or if you can. For some to these games I resort to the expert(s), like @FightinCowboy to fill in.
