You’ve heard of the acronym KISS – ‘Keep It Super Simple’. We’ve tweaked it a bit to read ‘keep it simple’. Yes, some of the most complex machinery or electronic devices make money such as computers, smartphones, dozers, carts etc. However, looking back there were simpler forms or designs of those items we have today. Simplicity holds intrinsic value, not just on the sales floor or stockyards. Complicated doesn’t necessarily mean complex. Simple solutions can help identify new ways for your business to add customer value and create customer loyalty. A team might find a competitive advantage by using comparative marketing analysis, utilizing the same people to identify competitive gaps or areas of improvement that might go unchecked. Your team of experts can help identify strengths, weaknesses, additional revenue opportunities all while seeking to mitigate of long-term business problems or risks.

Alpha Numeric Domain Salad

Fix Domain Problems With ICANN And Domain Name Soup

ICANN Helps with Alpha Numeric Domain Salad

Use The Domain Soup

Finding the right domain name

These days, it’s getting tougher by the minute. All the 3, 4, 5, 6 and some 7- letter combination domains are all gone (purchased). Now, what do I do?

A new year, a new you (business you). Move past the Alpha Numeric Domain Salad (or soup) and keep it simple and short. Questions, arise: Is it time to create a new domain or find an alternative? What’s a domain broker? Whatever the reason, the strategy might be more difficult than you think. With loads of questions, it’s time for a domain buying strategy. More and more our domain strategy is put to the test. Rankings, rage clicks, drops and more… all play a role in our evolving domain buying strategy. Keep ICANN handy, ICANN – stands for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers; on second thought, get to know ICANN and NameCheap.

Try The Soup; Domain Name Soup

Try, the Domain Name Soup app, i.e the soup… I call it. Sometimes, the ‘soup’ is what you need to find a unique name, combination or similar sounding name. Do so with Domain Name Soup. It might help you move past the alpha numeric domain salad.

These days, with AI and old web tools like Domain Name Soup, you might find the trick you need to cover a client’s business name or a service provided in an area of expertise – all not a problem just a few years ago. Let’s start with domain brokers.  We’ve used them, and they are what they are ‘at a price’. Guess who wins in that transaction? Again, unless you’re trying to purchase an existing stable domain, coming out of pocket might be your best bet.

Try Alternative Top Level Domains

Tip: when trying to evaluate your next move, start by finding a registrar. Begin with a few words that you feel represent your brand or influence. Try different domain sub-categories, partial and combined alpha-numeric characters, country codes and more.

We tend to avoid .org’s, .co’s, and other similar options. This may be more of a personal preference, or perhaps a slight nod to nostalgia for early dot.com days. Above all, aim to find something you can truly own for at least a year. Jokes aside, all domains come with an annual expense, whether you like it or not. It’s not the 20s or early 2000s anymore; now it’s all about X (formerly Twitter) handles, IG accounts, TikTok, ChatGPT, and AI algorithms. Find a domain that resonates with you. Consider getting a D.B.A. if needed (consult a lawyer for advice), or simply choose a catchy domain that’s available.

Domains can be pricey and finding the right one isn’t easy, but just find something you can work with and give it a try! In addition to ICANN, which can assist with domain research, consider using domain brokers like NameCheap (a popular registrar) or any of the thousands of others in the market. They can help you find a domain at the best price, that makes the most sense for your needs. Be cautious, as some domain owners prefer to remain private and may not want to be contacted. Be patient and make best decision for your business of brand.

Other Means of Support

While were fixing things today, let’s share a few other helpful tips. Such as cleaning up URLs, GoDaddy Bounceback services, email deliverability, knowing when to clear the cache, and how to Flush DNS on a Mac/Apple. Additionally, ipconfig /flushdns for Windows, and sudo systemd-resolve --flush-caches on Linux.

We’ll also cover how to maintain your digital footprint i.e. activity on the web and what to do when the interwebs are completely down; really down. Choose down detection or learn about where the “web” came from, wayback. These tips are super handy when starting a new website from scratch because eventually, you will come across these issues in one way or another. It’s bound to happen.

Clouds Ahead, Understand Growth

Keep It Super Simple

Sallee llc Ads - See What's On The Horizon

Learn Something New, Remove Issues, Eliminate ‘Blockers’, and Reduce Waste.

Adverts – The Value Of Vision

Aim Small, See Beyond; Eyes On Target. Take note of the clouds ahead and understand the need for growth.

This could be seen as a metaphor or warning ‘Clouds Ahead, Understand Growth’ for recognizing trouble and having clear indicators and strategies in place to maintain service on a large scale. It’c crucial to understand the value of working with a close-knit team, whether it’s a small group or a global one, that is focused on the present moment.

Understand the importance of servicing with a tight-knit crew, seeing the clouds ahead, understand growth being a single member lcc or a global team focused on the present moment. In all seriousness, the size of the team should match the scale and severity of the problem at hand. Learn how to increase your profits, learn about potential growth during challenging times. Explore different types of growth, such as stagnant growth, and find solutions based on your current resources and staff.

If I may offer a suggestion, let’s keep things simple – empower those around you, work with what you have, learn a new skill, and improve the team, whether it’s a solo project or a corporate design team, every day. We seek change, but change at a fundamental level, not just on the surface. The key is to enhance true value, the potential of humanity. Empower those around you, even in times of trouble and turmoil. Understand the scale of business and learn to navigate change effectively.

Investing In Your Business

Small, Smart Investments In Your Business

Invest In Your Business Energy: Finding Small Wins, Eyes On The Target, And Focusing On The Next Win

Methodology – Iterative and Incremental, Design, Build, Release

Quick tip, there are three simple points to remember to drive home incremental successes while investing in your business. Aim small, keep your eyes on the target, and have the awareness to see beyond.

When investing in your business: aim small by finding impactful wins that can positively change the customer experience. In other words, focus on cost-effective ways to enhance your customers’ experience. Keep your eyes on the target by bringing focus to your work, understanding the value of customer diversity and how their opinions and experiences can improve your products and services in the market.

So, take a closer look at the images for a moment. You might be wondering, what is the significance of a stylized eye? It’s an illustration of a human eye, zoomed in, with cool colors and hard edges. Why choose an eye as the focus?

Vision, Cost Of Doing Business

Vision, is the key takeaway here. Having the ability to ‘see’, whether right or wrong includes seeing through touch (for example, using braille). This concept is especially important for those with vision impairment, as the ability to  perceive the value in a product or service is crucial. Do your customers truly understand the value of your products, services, and, more importantly, the experience they will have when engaging with your product?

Next, it is important to have the awareness to see beyond the trials and tribulations of day-to-day life. Understanding the ups and downs in the market, the ebb and flow that takes place, and the lifecycle of your product is crucial. Finding satisfaction in learning from the experience, the challenge; the wins. Testing is at the core of what we believe is the ‘learning’ process, providing value gained from focusing on a test, learning from it, and applying the outcomes.

A final point to consider when thinking about ‘Investing In Your Business’. is to consider resources and, depending on your budget, testing costs. Find ways to test your customer base and learn from their experiences. Understand how those ‘events’ can change and improve your products lifecycle. Alternatively, if you are interested, explore the concept of transformative simplicity.

Transformative Cheese

Who Moves The Cheese?

Who Moved My Cheese

A Good Read: “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson M.D.

Materials – “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson, M.D

Let’s cover this allegorical metaphorical story. It’s a lovely little tale that I’ve been wanting to explore for a while now, as as Dr. Johnson’s work has been referenced numerous times in my life over the past 15 years.

Despite not having had the time or energy to read it until now, we are finally tackling Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson, M.D. I like to think of the story as a Transformative allegory about Cheese or money.

Famous last words, ‘who removes life’s blockers’? Well, you do. I’ll be brief: the book is interesting, seemingly shining the proverbial spotlight on ‘change’. I enjoyed the picture developed while various personas worked around “Who Moved My Cheese”. It’s an interesting take on transformation, identifying personal blockers, working through issues, ultimately; how to overcome and  transform your ‘actions’ either in both your personal and professional life.

The key here is action – you’ve got to do something, anything; just do something (to transform) your activity into actionable, do-able and sustainable outcomes. In this case, finding new paths, ways to find success while identifying pros and cons to looking elsewhere. This transformative ‘Cheese’, if you will is a great business book to share with others. Give the ‘secret’ away, but more importantly read more on Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson M.D.. Read reviews or commentaries on the book and download or order it. This is an unsolicited and unpaid advertisement, so take it at face value. The value is in the read – a great little work on transformation.

Finally, look, I’m not a personal growth paperback pusher (or digital read), I thought I would mention it for those of you who like to learn the value of change or in my case, communication via Audible.

Find materials and references and other resources such as books like Dr. Johnson’s “Who Moved My Cheese” about knowing when to change; or the ‘how to improve and change, your ‘change IQ’, coupon codes and updates such as FAA Updates to stay informed about warnings, TFR’s and know when and where to fly. The same goes for electronics updates, upgrades and firmware releases. We also have Nikon Firmware, Innova Multimeter “how-to’s”, and AC Gilbert American Flyer Model Train Schemas. All relevant in the technological world, or if you enjoy small gadgets and working on electronics! Enjoy!

Learn & Apply

Are you Results Driven, How do you become Results Driven?

Learn & Apply with ease

Being A Results Driven Organization

Methodology – Learn & Apply

First, Learn & Apply… What was your hypothesis? How did you test it? What did you learn from the test results? Any viable ideas? Did you retest and test again? Do you need to test once more?

Secondly, the challenging part arises: where do we apply our learnings? Do we cease learning? Do we work with others? The answer is certainly no. The question then becomes: when and where should you begin testing again once you’ve implemented a change, reduced redundancies, or enhanced system improvements? The time to learn is now. Or is it time to apply those findings elsewhere and make further adjustments to redundancies or system improvements? Does it sound as simple as that?

Thirdly, there are often more questions than answers, so it’s important to always strive to learn and apply new knowledge. If we stop learning, our progress may also come to a halt. Remember, you have the power to make a difference in your business, with your people, and for your brand. Lastly, we advocate for achievable changes and encourage continuous testing. We test, retest, and test again to learn from behaviors, analyze results, and effectively implement change.

As usual, please leave a comment below and let us know what you’re thinking!

Test

Value Added Results

In The Lab - Test

Test, Test, and Retest – Finding value

Methodology – Test

Those of you who have partaken in usability test(s), have been to a usability center etc.

Many, many days spent in corp usability labs; fun times, good people. However, I felt sometimes the point was to justify change or boost numbers for change; in actuality it may have skewed the data. I digress!

Quickly, onto our fifth message here, this message is around ‘evaluation’ and ‘experimentation’… the value of, say an auto inspection, might reveal brake issues or failing tires. How often you inspect those tires or exam those brake parts, with determine cost of repair. How does this apply to your products and services?

Next, I prefer to test, (if money was no object), or I had the time to just test for the sake of testing I would do it. Fortunately, I’ve had the luxury of both. While working for myself and large corp. Goal is to find results both long-term and short-term, evaluations performed in my career. So, I guess the value in this article is the years spent testing, 24 years and counting. In that same vain, pilot studies, and small tests have value as well; working to reduce some cost, gain some efficiency over some defined length of time or duration.

Right? It’s probably why I test as often as I do, personally. The goal is to find  products and services that fit and make my life experience better or ‘buy funnel’. Oh, quick story, desktop vs mobile (those were fun, before mobile first or device agnostic design)… circa 1999-2000. Hundreds of users tested, mix results; more focused results were skewed as were the broader ‘organic’ type. Data is a funny thing. In hindsight, I can’t stress this enough, the value of analysis; is the value of the experiment itself.

Very High Level – Have problems, Find Solutions

I’ll keep it surface level, exploration is great for any number of things, seat belts, fire retardant blankets and safety clothing or fishing gloves. How would you retrieve your fish hook from a fishes mouth with out  kevlar gloves(I don’t go fishing without them). How about Gorilla Glass, how it splinters?  Apple Device failure, no warranty? Try for example, Apple Self Service Repair options will work for your situation. Or how much pressure it takes to cause a catastrophic glass failure. Or, take for example, a drone not working, DJI gimbal issue, we’ve got get out to the airfield and perform flight maneuvers requiring video or the act of actively capturing video in flight . Things I know to well.

I’ll confess, testing is a part of life, it’s how we learn. I would say often, do it regularly, try on your ‘off days’, try on your ‘on’ days and always retest if you can. The value is finding similarities to the experience you want your customers to have when they interact with your products and services. Re-do’s, as many times as you can; adjust your hypothesis, adjust your trajectory of change.

CBA – Cost-to-Benefit Analysis

Obviously in the real world, there is a point of diminishing return, but from a business justification, it’s a heck of a lot cheaper to fix a small sample assessment than fixing large, system level production changes; live. This goes for code, speeches, design, spelling, text messages, SMS, phone calls, or chat.

Lets’s explore the entire process, starting with hypothesizing (as highlighted in the previous article, active idea generation), then moving on to testing, learning & applying. We discuss these topics and more in our marketing and methodology articles covering possible changes, navigating challenges, improving vision, and knowing when to seek improvement or transformation. While there are many other topics to consider, let’s start here!

Once we complete our testing, we learn & apply our findings. As usual leave a comment below, let us know what you’re thinking?

Hypothesize

Imagine, Think, Be Creative

Hypothesize

Be Creative – What’s Next You Ask?

Methodology – Hypothesize

Fixed Ideas Need New Ideas, New People; New Solutions. Thinking inside and outside the box, critical thinking, deep learning are all skills that customers appreciate, as they feel that their voice is being heard.

We enjoy brainstorming, storming, testing and finding results. Hypothesize more, or as much as you can. However, results are for another topic; thinking about what you want to achieve with your business is crucial. We aim to generate big ideas, building on them and offer great solutions.

The Scientific Method: Same Process Applies

Representing our brand with a variation or spin on the scientific method is just another way to approach things.  You may be wondering where to start, how to start, and who will lead the change. Well, it’s probably you.

The key is to begin somewhere, whether with a small or large change. The importance of hypothesizing is crucial when considering change. So, should we change or not? The question to ask is what cost, risks, and benefits are associated with making this change feasible. What costs are we avoiding my implementing this change? Check out our upcoming articles on our methodology, where we discuss hypothesizing, generating good ideas, and putting them to the test, thorough testing. The results of our testing guide us towards the learning process and the application of our findings.

So, should we change or not? The question is, what are the costs, risks, and benefits associated with making this change possible? What costs are we avoiding by implementing this feasible change? Please refer to the following articles on our methodology.  We discuss the process of hypothesizing, generating good ideas, and testing them. The outcomes of our testing lead us towards the learning process and the application of our test results.

Partners

Let’s Connect, Partner With Us

Partnership

Finding The Right People: A Network, Community

Methodology – Partnership

We Want To Recognize Our Partners, Contractors, Mentors and Friends. The right people, the right products or services, and the right time are crucial. We aim to ride out the troughs and experience controlled growth in the peaks, always looking for the right time to expand with the right partnership in place.

A great strategy can withstand the storm and even thrive in a downturned market… It is important to remember that partnership, is a foundational characteristic in running an organization. We collaborate with our customers, friends, and family to solve problems in real-time during the peaks, while also preparing and safeguarding our investments for the next trough.

Partners – why partners? As the second part of our foundational message, we welcome new partners and celebrate our past. We have evolved from a garage to a startup to a small business. Someday we will welcome the next step, whatever and whenever that may be. Until then, we encourage you today. Test your business strategy to see what can change. What is considered low-hanging fruit or easy change with maximum benefit, and what is considered limited expense with limited benefit and maximum expense.

There is something right in front of you that can be tried. Try something today. We did, and we are grateful to those who have been advocates of ours for many years. Growth and Transformation

Transform, Grow and Change

Growth

Growth and Transformation With Those Around You, Right People, Right Time, Test and Drive Towards Excellence

Methodology – Growth and Transformation

How do you envision the growth of your business over time? How can you transform the business? With all the highs and lows, learning lessons… Grow wisely, grow locally and grow independently.

We selected growth (transformation and refactoring) as our first six foundational messages; growth represents the potential for change. Embrace growth, try something new today, whether right or wrong (in the sense of ROI), there is always room for growth. You have to find the growth. Invest. Take action with  Cost-to-Benefit CBA driven backlog leads to transformative change, making it scalable and always present in growth focused, forward-thinking business.

What’s unique about growth? The ability to change and transform your ideas and bring them to market faster. Anyone can grow, change, or improve. We utilize a well-known method for improvement, drawing from the scientific method, learning from failures, and relying on empirical evidence.

So, What’s Next

Nothing new, nothing transformative from a business model perspective. We find that successful change is deeply rooted in change itself, based on what you know today – empirical evidence. There are numerous studies, years of management courses, and extensive learning required to implement, work, and excel in any one of the 15 flavors of Waterfall, Agile, Agile At Scale, Scrum and so on. Why are there so many? Yes, we acknowledge that systems need to scale from garage to enterprise. However, we must ask why there are so many variants.

The answer is simple, making a system that fits your organization can have various outcomes, ranging from bad to good to downright ugly. It is crucial to hire the right people, require skills beyond completing tasks, have team members take ownership of their work, and follow a process of: hypothesizing, testing, learning and applying (said learnings). Yes, we believe it is.

Additionally, we believe in taking a pragmatic approach to incremental change, or in this case, incremental growth and transformation. We always acknowledge that failures can be difficult, but the key difference lies in the ability to learn from them. If you fail and do not learn, then it is indeed a loss. However, the silver lining is the potential for change that can result from the learning process, regardless of perspective. We see this as the micro-growth, transformative change, necessary to enhance your business, regardless of its size, level, or challenges.

What problems can we help you solve today?
