Let’s Play Some Hoops, Double Dribble Basketball

Jump Into An Instant NES Classic

Lab Work – Double Dribble Video

Starting with Double Dribble, watch the Double Dribble video which might be one of my favorite basketball games on the NES console.

Quick Take

Let’s start with the greatest games: NBA Jam, Jordan vs Bird, Bulls vs Blazers, and Double Dribble… While all of these titles are great games, Double Dribble to me is where it all began for me. It was the undercover Jordan vs Bird basketball game.

Game play, now some 40 years later, I will assume the Chicago Ox, New York Eagles, Los Angeles Breakers and Boston Frogs were meant to represent the Bulls, Knicks, Lakers and Celtics, respectively. But you know how copyright and naming rights work, licensing was clearly an issue, it wasn’t until the 2000’s with NCAA and NIL that it came to a head. Assumption yes, some unknown console company wants to use professionally licensed team names ‘Name In Likeness’ with the dough? Assumption is probably spot on.

My go to teams were Boston and Chicago for obvious reasons, as they represented the classic Bird vs Jordan era. So, for those of in your 40s and older, you should know the lore behind a Bulls Celtic game. That’s Double Dribble in a nutshell.

Perhaps I should include Double Dribble on the All Time Greats list for basketball. Watch this video and others like it on YouTube Logo YouTube or check out our other videos found under the video category on our website. You decide!

NES Rad Racer Video

Onto Rad Racer

Rad Racer, NES Classics

Lab Work – Rad Racer Video – The Classics With @NintendoComplete

Adding to the list of old Nintendo and Sony console games, we tossed in Rad Racer for good measure.

Quick Take

As far as racing games, Rad Racer sticks out as one of those top tier games ever. Great music, relatively easy game play and great sunsets. All qualities and design elements going into the making of a great game. For an 80’s racing game, this game is one of few per console, that hits all the elements for legendary game status.

I can’t do much without the video from @NintendoComplete. Let’s assume you remember Rad Racer or perhaps you read another one of our game articles or watched a video. Welcome! Let’s get into it!

Rad Racer, is on my Top 10 list, probably as the number 2 racing game, behind Mario Kart. Although from different era’s of gaming and presenting different challenges etc. Rad Racer was one of the first games I was able to conquer, learning the puzzles and strategies to beat the game. I think Zelda and Rad Racer… were my first two overall game wins.

Music selection, snow scenes and a Ferrari 328 looking car (the closest I’ve been to an F-1 race car) are all features of this game. The F-1 Lotus race car also reminds me of another video game, F-1 Race. It’s a different game, but very similar in graphics, color palette, sound, and SFX (sound effects). I loved this game as a kid, and it’s still the same after all these years. Nowadays, it’s all about YouTube content creators doing races and speed runs until we purchase that Nintendo Switch. The ending is cool, funny, and simple, just like many early NES games.

DNS Flush

Flush System DNS CACHE, IP Address Wisdom And More

Tech And Tools – More Reference Than Tool, MacOS Flush DNS Cache

A few things to note: from time to time, you may need to flush your DNS cache, understand how your IP address is acting and how to dump, secure, or authorize computer code to start fresh.

Flush DNS Cache – MacOS
  • Plain text: sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder; say cache flushed
  • Or
  • 1. Command (Apple) + Spacebar
  • 2. Type Terminal, strike enter
  • 3. Select to Open ‘Mac Terminal Application’
  • 4. Type sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder; say cache flushed, strike enter
  • 5. Terminal will request “Sudo” password, enter Sudo password, and strike enter
  • 6. Assuming the password given is correct, the system will state “Cache Flushed as indicated in the terminal command
  • 7. Command (Apple) + W to close Terminal window
  • 8. Strike Enter to close out window
Flush DNS Cache – Windows
  • 1. Ctrl + R Run Windows Terminal
  • 2. ipconfig /all directing the system to flush all. For more information, you can look up more information by inputting ipconfig?
  • 3. Assuming no superuser credentials needed, strike enter
  • 4. Terminal will confirm, all released and renewed
  • 5. Ctrl + W to close Terminal window

Although this post may seem basic basic, at it’s core, it is. The command has been available since the dawn of the internet allowing users to reset the system as needed. This post will focus on the process of flushing the MacOS DNS Cache. I have included a snippet/script for resolving connection issues, tailored for both MacOS and Windows users who may come across this post.

What About Other Issues

Experiencing lag? Before we proceed, please note that these terminal commands have been used for a while with limited changes over time. The only differences might be MacOS specific, directing the system to ‘speak aloud – Cache flushed’ when the command has been completed, among other actions. Flushing the DNS cache might just be the trick for your Mac. What exactly is this DNS flushing business? It involves skipping the process of physically deleting your local cache (not internet cache/cookies etc). I’ll also post something about that.

So, we are talking about flushing the DNS? Let’s begin with a brief explanation of DNS – Domain Name Server. If you need more information on DNS, you can check out Cloudflare’s Definition of DNS to understand how it works, and so on.  Essentially, the DNS translates domain names into  IP addresses, which are essential for navigating the internet. Without DNS, web browsers wouldn’t be able to load websites. For a more in-depth look, I recommend reading the  Cloudflare article for more details.

In a day or two, I will follow up with a post on WhatIsMyIPAddress about deleting ‘local user cache’ files on your Mac. It will make more sense in a few days if you haven’t a chance to troubleshoot your own computer issues related to internet speed, lag, and connections. Let’s conclude with this, do you fuzz? Screaming Frog or SEMRush? Email issues? MX Toolbox, flush your system and server cache often. Delete old accounts, clean up the clutter and fix email risks and issues associated with email services.

NES Excitebike Video

Dirt Bike Racing and More

Find @nintendoComplete Online, Starting With Excitebike

Lab Work – Excitebike Video

I am a huge Excitebike fan. For those who don’t know what Excitebike is, check out the Excitebike video! I love creating custom tracks and stages with max jumps and bumps; it is definitely a great game ahead of its time.

Hot Take

This is a legendary status motorcross game, might have been one of my first games owned… I can’t remember if this title was packaged with the NES console as a console add on. I’m thinking Mario, Duck Hunt and Excitebike, not sure the order. But there were two or three console packages available at the time, one featured Excitebike as the game featured in the package.

Next, it feels like I start each review with, I’m a huge fan, well, Excitebike is no different… I could be just era I grow up in, these games took RGPs and boardgames to a new level. Mario, Excitebike, and Duck Hunt – if I recall correctly, these three games were the first games we owned. Not in that order, I can’t remember which games might have come with the console. I don’t know that the order matters, but Excitebike was epic. The hurdles, the big jumps, the step-ups and customizer…

The Excitebike track customizer might have been the most epic part, having the ability to create my own mega ramp race course. That was truly a game changer for me. I especially liked the ‘bluish’ and ‘neon green’ courses. The only real hang up I had with this game was the engine temperature or overheating… Like Top Gun, and the landing bit, the game is awesome, also my achilles heal. Overheating and landing, not so much. I was not the ‘landing’ type, never really got the hang of it. Where temperature was much easier to control in Excitebike. So, the customizer and temperature awareness… take aways. Jumps were fantastic, courses were worth the ride and game play was worth the hours upon hours of play.

Pro Wrestling is a fantastic game! Watch NES Pro Wrestling video now…

Quick Take

Check out @nintendoComplete’s play-through of this great two-player game. Familiarize yourself with perhaps one of the first wrestling games. You got to love NES Pro Wrestling, this game was great. If I remember correctly, it was early on in my gaming career some 30 years ago. By gaming career, I simply mean the time to play a game at an early age (tongue in cheek reference to having all the time in the world as a child).

I recall how cool the Amazon was… King Slender and Starman were. For some reason, I’m not sure why, but I essentially wanted to play this game nonstop. It’s probably been since middle school that I last played it.

It’s definitely on my “to buy” list if I ever get around to purchasing that Nintendo Switch I’ve been talking about. Not that this game was any more special or difficult than other NES console games. I think its simplicity was its feature, along with characters and famous wrestling moves.

Future self, remember to get back in the ring… That is one takeaway from this article that I do want to share… Ring time was essential; early on, it was an easy win if I made my way out of the ring through force or on my own accord.

Lab Work – Play Ice Climber Now

NES – Ice Climber, Famous Titles and more. Let’s cover NES titles, walk-throughs, play-throughs and even a little 80’s NES Lore

Quick Take

Do you remember Kong Fan? Rampage? Gyromite? How about Ice Climber? (https://www.retrogames.cz/play_041-NES.php?language=EN) Play Ice Climber online now! I remember the pain of never being good at the game. The games were epic for ’85/’86 and I recall it like it was yesterday. My childhood friend owned the game console with a few games, including Ice Climber. We had the NES console, which it was epic. I think we had the following game cartridges, Super Mario, Baseball, Excitebike, and Duck Hunt. The Legend of Zelda was a secondary purchase that I remember vividly, the golden cartridge was top-notch marketing.

NES Titles, Walk-throughs and Play-Throughs

If you want to watch more NES content, play-throughs and/or walk-throughs, my goto content creators for archived video content are @worldoflongplay, @lordkayoss, and @nintendoComplete. The point here is that content, video ‘gaming’ in my childhood was spars. the neighborhoods kid had very few games, which means time on the console/game was limited. This meant the main focus was single player or limited two player games, most of the time with extremely lopsided outcomes when it came to head-to-head competition or gaming.

Imagine passing controllers passed back-and-forth for another try.  I don’t think it would have made a difference anyway. The key was to rent, borrow, or  purchase the game of choice and earn your stripes. I was terrible at the game, but it was awesome, reminiscent of those games above, the Donkey Kong or Rampage, with bottom-up racing games. Races included ice, stone obstacles, bears, birds, and other creatures. Awesome!

Other NES Titles

Let’s continue with more NES titles, including both favorites and rarities. Ice Climber and Gyromite were part of the original series of around 17 games released on the US Nintendo Entertainment System. Don’t quote me on the total number of games released in the original US lineup, but here is what I’ve gathered – Duck Hunt*, Gyromite, 10-Yard Fight(a football, game I’ve never played), Baseball**, Clu CLu Land, Donkey Kong Jr., Excitebike**, Golf*, Hogan’s Alley, Ice Climber**, Kung Fu**, Mach Rider, Pinball, Stack Up, Tennis, Wild Gunman and Wrecking Crew. Some of my favorites are marked with an (*) or double asterisk  (**) based on my total playtime, enjoyment, and overall player experience.

Again, take this as it is. It’s been along time (30 years or more) since this article was written and the original gameplay. Many of the games I don’t remember or only played for a few hours. The games are simply included in the original Nintendo US offering. To answer your question, Ice Climber was awesome, Excitebike and Kung Fu were also great.

Gyromite and ROB (Robot Operting Buddy)

Moreover, Gyromite was a fun but incredibly challenging for an adolescent. Gyromite is a side-view puzzle game, featuring a quirky old professor/scienctist who jumps around while avoiding pipes and critters. It’s worth noting that Gyromite also involved the R.O.B., a unique accessory for the NES. The US NES Console was released with Gyromite and R.O.B., an automated player accessory for cooperative play. This was an innovative move by Nintendo, although R.O.B. was short-lived as an accessory.

For context, there was the NES Blaster/Zapper, Powerpad, Powerglove, and game-specific controllers like the laser scope and Max pad. For more information on those accessories,  Gaming History101 does a much better job covering them. Kudos to them, as I was only familiar with about 60% of the items listed – U-Force, Laser-Scope and R.O.B. being the most notable.  Returning to Gyromite/R.O.B., the game was linear, morning right-to-left and up-and-down, with a cool robot accessory called R.O.B. that could help open pipes in the case of Gyromite.

The Wrap Up

Duck Hunt was unique. It came with a blaster, officially called the Zapper (I remember it being grey), which was a cool idea. Clu Clu Land was tough from what I remember, similar to Alex The Kidd (a Sega Console game, if I recall correctly. If not, please look it up for context).

Anyhow, getting back on track, let’s conclude the article with Ice Climber. Ice Climber was a fantastic game, one of the original titles on the NES console. Players control characters who jump, climb, and use a mallet to make their way to the top of vertical boards. They must fight off bears, bee-like bugs, Yeti (bigfoot-like creatures), birds, and more. In my opinion, out of the 17 original games on the NES console, Ice Climber was one of the best, offering 2-player fun and a challenging difficulty level, especially for young players in 1985-86. In future posts, I will discuss Nintendo controllers and accessories such as the  Power Glove, Power Mat, Game Genie, R.O.B, NES Light Gun and more. Cheers.

Lab Work – Teeing Up Candy Crush Soda Saga

Have a few extra minutes to solve puzzles and enjoy some candy? Candy Crush might be the perfect game for those game time moments!

Candy Crush Soda Saga by King is the sequel to the original Candy Crush Saga. I started playing Sugar at the beginning of 2023, fitting it in between sessions of Factorio and Clash Of Clans. Candy Crush is a fantastic puzzle game that will appeal to fans of Connect Four, Othello, Tetris, or paper crossword puzzles. It requires quick thinking and reflexes. Sugar offers great game play and animations. Personally, I prefer Soda over the previous versions of Candy Crush because it feels more polished. Factorio remains a favorite desktop game of mine, while CoC Clash Of Clans and Candy Crush, both mobile games, have been put on hold for now.

COC Dilemma

Let me explain further, in CoC in Clash Of Clans, I’ve been playing for over 10 years. I reached TH15, and maxed out before the wall max release, and I’ve tried out a few new characters. The game’s lifecycle has run it’s course for me. As for Candy Crush, the dragon stages can be challenging. It can feel like you might not be able to pass them without making in-game purchases.

Now, I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who have completed the dragon stages, but I have not. Kudos to those who have. I might need to do a little internet research, I guess. However, I liken the experience to my childhood, playing Gyromite, Castlevania or even Super Mario; and you can’t get out of the rut. I feel like I just can’t ‘beat’ a particular area/stage/puzzle etc. So, without going down the rabbit hole, what I tend to do is set the game down, uninstall until it’s time to pick it up again. I know brutal cycle… moreover, I tend to pick up the game every other month or so, a new install is a must. Perhaps it would be easier to just pick up with the dragon area…

Not a fan of Candy Crush game? No problem, let’s explore some other options before we finish up. How about the game of Solitaire? Go old school and grab a deck of cards, let’s play. Or maybe you’re up for a game of World War 3 play with friends like we did here, or take on the challenge of conquering the world alone. Not into ‘Risk-like’ games? How about trying out D&D? Check out Dungeon Boss – Revised. Still not interested? What about Clash of Clans?

In-game screenshots to follow. It’s been a month or two since my last play-through. Stay tuned for my gaming experience in the next few weeks!

The Stylophone Sound

First off, Joe can play just about anything, guitar, piano, and now the stylophone. Add the stylophone to the list of instruments this talented musician can play. And now you have my attention, @joejenkins. @JoeJenkins is known as a street artist or musician, more of a content creator(in my opinion). You have to like what he is doing in context of music and street art. Bringing music to the masses, to the street. His YouTube channel states that he is a professional guitarist, but I think there’s more to him than just guitars and pianos… Anyhow, nice work here, great channel, and a fantastic cover of Toto’s “Africa”. Cheers, Joe! If you keep making videos, we will probably keep watching! Those of you who know of Joe, or not, give him a like or subscribe, he’s super talented; hence the stylophone.

Secondly, we are missing hand-tension screws and tension belts. There is a literal mess of PLA covering 60% or more of the printer, extrusion head, bed and assembly. Fortunately, I walked in post-print as a tension belt was in the process of removing itself from the printer head.

Moreover, that concludes the visual inspection portion of the Ender Upgrade Adhesion Issue. Moving forward, we have the printer head back together, PLA cleaned off, tension belts applied. Next and not captured below, replace adhesion plate, tension screws, and restart the machine for calibration. Look for update posts here in the next day or two.

Next, what is the purpose of the print? Let’s replace the cover on the Halot Sky (V1) Resin vat, I am not sure where the original cover has gone – it could have been broken or lost. More importantly, the print itself was lost. From the perspective of the ‘pressman’, the printable seems to have failed to adhere to the build plate. Following a settings check, the discovery was around ‘ironing’ or issues around ironing. Also, the printer head was buried into the print plate. This is not good for the printer or its parts. Additionally, there was a concerning sound of tension belts releasing and printer head/plate friction. However, the print fix is currently being fixed, and we will provide an update at a later date or time.

Finally, we replace build plate, hand screws, springs, restart/update firmware and calibration.

Supercell Clash Of Clans Update

Materials – New Terms, New Character and New Chaos

We have officially retired our Clash of Clans account, following the latest Supercell Clash Terms Update.

This update introduced additional TH15  requirements, hero levels, a split builder camp, and multi-level builder battles. I will refrain from sharing my thoughts on the update as we have already announced out retirement. As mentioned above, we recently received the latest Terms/Services update. I am curious to understand the primary reason behind the Supercell ID connection rules.

While I will keep my comments respectful regarding the Supercell Clash Terms Update, it seems that online players will be required to stick with IDs they currently have. It is one thing to increase usage and enhance gameplay, but the idea of this update being solely for the benefit of the player seems questionable. However, if you wish to disconnect your account, please contact Supercell Support before September 2023.

3D Printer Adhesion Issues with PLA and TPU

Print Plate Surface Adhesion and Heating Issues

Lab Work – Ender Issues Defined

A few more weeks of Ender issues…

Ender Filament and Adhesion Issues, are causing a delay in the TPU Neo Max upgrade progress. I will be sharing more Ender ‘lite’ issues, as we continue the TPU trial and face filament challenges. The filament change was primarily for lab work on bait designs and future locking mechanisms where TPU will be more appropriate. Despite this tangent, core printing has not ceased, I am still facing challenges with PLA.

Ender Filament and Adhesion Issues

There are countless issues that seem infinite at the moment. Everything from Creality Software to Ultimaker Cura, Sonic Pad issues, filament running temp, and new surface temperature problems… we have a lot of cover. I will break these down into 2 or 3 new posts over the next week. We will also revisit surface adhesion. Surface adhesion and surface temperature seem to be causing most of the issues on the Ender Max Neo. I must admit, tinkering doesn’t always result in perfect prints, even 60% to 80% of the time. I won’t argue, I’ll just focus on testing… the more runs, the better chance we have of increasing that 60% likelihood of successful prints.

Pictures will follow,  as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. The pictures will be shared to specifically cover thickness, fragility and test prints. Let’s get to printing!

Cooking Up Brussels & Bacon

Maple Glazed Brussels And Bacon

Maple Bacon & Brussels

Do You Fancy Maple Syrup?

Lab Work – Maple Glazed Bacon Brussel Sprouts

A moment of honesty, I’ve never liked Brussel sprouts; I know the shame.

Yes, the horror… Brussels and bacon… did I mention maple syrup? Like most things, I’ve learned to enjoy the combination, especially when finished with maple syrup. I never thought I would use maple syrup as an alternative glaze, but, yes, it’s good.

Honestly, there is nothing better in life than the combination of sweet and savory flavors, such as salty mixed with a fine coating of maple syrup. Don’t over do it on the syrup, if not syrup, a balsamic reduction will suffice. If not, simple salt will do the trick. When I was growing up, mini cabbages were bland, or just down right not good. Again, as a kid, no body likes sprouts. However, by simply adding salt or a sweet and salty component, the dish is elevated to a higher level. It goes from being a side dish to a main dish. This is a great combination for holiday meals, get- togethers, or a change of pace at home. lifts the dish to higher ground. Kick your home-cooked meals up a  notch with sprouts, syrup, and bacon.

I’m not a foodie or a food blogger/vlogger, but give it a shot for yourself. Try it, what’s the worst that can happen? You know, I might post a few more things beyond the combo, like the sous vide ‘meat’… I think I might try to share the trials and tribulations of making a simple donut, some creme brûlée, and maybe a great soft pretzel. Again, take it or leave it, I thought it might be a good experiment or a disastrous. Better yet, for the sake of creating great internet content, I guess.

Look for a few more items to creep into the output section, along with the sous vide adventures and smorgasbord spread. And yes, some fantastic Brussels finished in maple syrup and bacon. Enjoy

Ender 3 Max Neo Filament

Printer Base Stabilization, Adhesion and Print Height

Filament Everywhere

Ender 3 Max Neo Filament Solutions

Lab Work – TPU Speed and Cycle Times

For this article on the Ender 3 Max Neo Filament, a typical print cycle might run between 2-5 hours, possibly more. While the standard range has been 2-5 hours, we are now looking at 12 – 16 hours. Recently, we have extended the top maximum run times to just under 12 hours for our test models. Surprisingly, both print tests resulted in the a mess.

Let’s Assess The Situation

For the record, a paper towel holder caused this issue twice. Upon initial observation, as the prints moved vertically (up the y-axis), the printing quality deteriorated. Somewhere between the 4″ and 5″ mark, both test prints went awry.

I’m starting to think there is shaking issue with the table or even a stabilization issue where the printer. is located. We can address both issues by printing the base slices, holder ends, screws, rods, and washers in a single print. Print these items separately to attach the towel roll and the rod. The rod that is slung between the holders can be printed in a secondary or tertiary step, This is mitigation issue number one, or we could address the stabilization directly. The printers are currently positioned where they stand, so there is not much I can do to move them around.

Once I received the new filament, we will print the rod. If it works, great. If not, then step two will be more tedious. The issue is mostly a space problem in the office. The filament should arrive later today, and I will post a quick summary once I finish printing the rod slice, assuming it is successful.

Ironically, a similar issue was occurring when I ran TPU through the machine. So we can conclude the Ender 3 Max Neo Filament post with this. Although I don’t think they are related, adhesion; more on software upgrades, filament PLA adhesion and TPU upgrade adhesion was the issue with TPU. Which we will address in a future post once we determine the correct nozzle temps, print speed, and adhesion setup. I have heard/read about using adhesion spray or glue stick. Another day, we will tackle those 3d printer issues/phantom printing phenomenon.

Best 3d Printers On the market 2023

Lab Work – 3d Printers

See 3D Poll Below (closed), participate in the ‘who’s who of 3D Printer Usage Brands and Manufacturers’.

The poll has since closed on 3D Printer Usage. However, what we discovered is interesting. The question was ‘What 3D printers have you used, any success’? We are specifically looking for a TPU thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) filament option. Tests with the NEO Max have been inconsistent, mostly unsuccessful, unless we swap out filaments. Interesting right? More on the Creality series of printers, Ender Series, Halot and Prusa products. There are others of course, Elegoo, Dremel, Prusa (mentioned prior), Bambu Lab, and Anycubic.

We have generally, for the focus of this 3d Printer Usage message, have been more around product similarities and commonalities with Creality. Choosing to stay brand agnostic per se. More choice, choosing Creality maybe four years or more. Today, we are looking for the best TPU lite printer. Do you have any suggestions regarding 3D print usage or brand? We have used Dremel for cutting and sanding, typical applications for a Dremel tool. As for Prusa, we have only used their products in theory, as some items we have purchased were made via a Prusa lab or outsourced printer. Anyhow, we are looking for feedback or comments. Please kindly leave your commentary below.

Please note, if you’re looking to swap out resin liners for the CL-89 model, it is advisable to purchase a number of them in advance, as they can be difficult to find when global stock is low.

Creality Halot Sky Resin 8.9″ LCD Change Out

Lab Work – LCD Screen

I know, we started the last post with “Before you start your own 3D printing…”; this post does follow suit. Let’s hop into the new Halot sky LCD swap.

It looks like a bad LCD screen, that needs to be replaced, as well as the film stretched over the resin vat or possibly just some resin damage, for that matter.

We replaced the monochrome LCD screen on the deck of the Halot Sky while we wait for a new FEP resin vat. Please note, if you’re planning to change resin liners (if you manage to find the correct ones for CL-89), it’s a good idea to buy several of them because they can be difficult to find when global stock is low.

Swapped LCD Screen

Swap details: Deconstruct by removing all screws, covers and metal panels. Be careful to disconnect the wires and ribbon cable for the touchscreen. Replace the screen ribbon in the quick connect being careful to reattach the ribbon and black wire for the touchscreen.

Two, clean up any resin residue, pour over, and spillage now. I believe this is  where we made a mistake. The spillage got under the screen, as shown in the featured image for the article. Have a bottle of alcohol on hand to make the cleanup process as easy and effortless as possible. It took about 15-20 minutes in total, as I mentioned, due to the large amount of spillage. Finally, remove the ribbon tape surround and a few screws to gain access to the LCD screen.

Ideally, you’ll want to take your time, being careful to not to rip the LCD tape, or misplace a screw. If you do lose any items, you can always find new pieces in the Spare Parts. If not, try the eBay shop. We will provide a link to our wares but it’s taking some time due to logistical issues. We also sell out items on eBay from time to time, so check them out – we currently have some King books available.

For those who only need the FEP release film, or for our future reference – FEP Release Film – (search eBay for FEP Release film). A side note: FEP film can be hard to find, so eBay might be your best source. If i were a betting man, which I’m not, eBay or Amazon might be the only two sites where you can find spare parts and film. Cheers!

Before we move off the Halot updates, I’d like to share other Halot usage, new Creality series, break-fixes, and finally the idea of adding a resin printer to the 3d printer arsenal.

Lab Work – Manage Your Online Activity

I thought I would throw this out there, for those of you who don’t understand internet ‘activity’ and how to quickly review, remove, delete and stop activity in it’s tracks.

Stop Data Collection  via MyActivity.Google.com

Quick and easy, get rid of and delete My Activity now. Simply go to myactivity.google.com on your computer, assuming you have a Google account. If you’ve new visited this site before, please take the time to do so and research how to disable your data collection if you want to stop the tracking. Additionally, as part of the My Activity removal process, I recommend removing your current account. Followed by creating a new one with all tracking features turned off.

Listen, more people, than you would think have no idea that these devices are collecting information. Specifically, they are collecting health, location, biometric and search data. My Activity is where the important stuff or tracking can be muted, disable and deleted.. Again, that address again, myactivity.google.com. Have a look, good luck. Same can be done on for old accounts – JustDeleteMe, unused mobile games etc., or your mobile devices, for either Android or iOS. I’ll post those items in the next few weeks.

Transformative Cheese

Who Moves The Cheese?

Who Moved My Cheese

A Good Read: “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson M.D.

Materials – “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson, M.D

Let’s cover this allegorical metaphorical story. It’s a lovely little tale that I’ve been wanting to explore for a while now, as as Dr. Johnson’s work has been referenced numerous times in my life over the past 15 years.

Despite not having had the time or energy to read it until now, we are finally tackling Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson, M.D. I like to think of the story as a Transformative allegory about Cheese or money.

Famous last words, ‘who removes life’s blockers’? Well, you do. I’ll be brief: the book is interesting, seemingly shining the proverbial spotlight on ‘change’. I enjoyed the picture developed while various personas worked around “Who Moved My Cheese”. It’s an interesting take on transformation, identifying personal blockers, working through issues, ultimately; how to overcome and  transform your ‘actions’ either in both your personal and professional life.

The key here is action – you’ve got to do something, anything; just do something (to transform) your activity into actionable, do-able and sustainable outcomes. In this case, finding new paths, ways to find success while identifying pros and cons to looking elsewhere. This transformative ‘Cheese’, if you will is a great business book to share with others. Give the ‘secret’ away, but more importantly read more on Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson M.D.. Read reviews or commentaries on the book and download or order it. This is an unsolicited and unpaid advertisement, so take it at face value. The value is in the read – a great little work on transformation.

Finally, look, I’m not a personal growth paperback pusher (or digital read), I thought I would mention it for those of you who like to learn the value of change or in my case, communication via Audible.

Find materials and references and other resources such as books like Dr. Johnson’s “Who Moved My Cheese” about knowing when to change; or the ‘how to improve and change, your ‘change IQ’, coupon codes and updates such as FAA Updates to stay informed about warnings, TFR’s and know when and where to fly. The same goes for electronics updates, upgrades and firmware releases. We also have Nikon Firmware, Innova Multimeter “how-to’s”, and AC Gilbert American Flyer Model Train Schemas. All relevant in the technological world, or if you enjoy small gadgets and working on electronics! Enjoy!

Inmarsat’s Got You Covered In An Emergency

Gear – Full Charge with the Inmarsat Satellite Phone Backup Batteries

Get yourself a backup battery: the BlueCosmo Inmarsat Sate-phone 2 Battery – OEM  (Original Equipment Manufacturer) batteries.

As storm season rolls in the South and those of you in the Great Northern States dig out of blizzard-like conditions over the weekend, emergency gear becomes a priority. Stay safe and ready. Storms may come and go, but keeping a steady supply of back up batteries, plugs, chargers, etc. can be a logistical nightmare. Having two, backup batteries on hand is always great for when you need them most-like Hurricane Ian.

Like Ian, Michael, Irma or Wilma, it’s important to prepare now. In the event of a catastrophe, I always make sure to a couple of spare items. For example, backup wires or charging cables, to ensure that everything keeps running  smoothly. I recently posted about the OEM battery as a reminder, but perhaps we should also discuss different battery types, such as those from manufacturers, for the sat phone. You can find great gear, parts or Inmarsat Satellite Phone replacement batteries online. Need a charge? Have a look at the Schumacher Charger, the NOCO Jumpbox, the Matrix Bench Supply and even a 9v battery in a pinch. Various chargers with means to charge your technology in an emergency, storms or traveling abroad. Gone are the days of needing multiple batteries for your cell phone.

Lab Work – 9v Charger Hack

Before you start criticizing me me about wattages, amperage, safety, or reality etc., I want to clarify that I meant to post this back in December, but didn’t get around to it until now.

The scenario is familiar –  no power due to  a storm outage or a dead car battery, and you find yourself in a bind .You phone is dead, and you need a charge. This hack can be a lifesaver when you’re away from home comforts whether you’re camping, off-grid, or stranded due to breakdown.

Hacks, Emergency Use

I usually avoid cellphone hacks, but this one caught my attention as we enter hurricane season.  Having experienced storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and the like, I know that sometimes the simplest things can make a big difference in a power outage. I’m not suggesting you hoard batteries, clicky-pens, nails, and used charger cords, but it might be wise to have a few on hand, just in case.

This hack has been around for sometime. Some people believe that off-grid living and underground living may require alternative power sources, and this hack could be just what you need. In any case, we spliced together a few generic charging cords, added a car charger, and a few 9v batteries, and voila! We have some juice for the cellphone battery.

This hack might work even better. This hack might work even better if you can find a different type of battery, such as an RC/Drone battery considering 9v, LiCB or 4s/5s LiPos. Try a power supply where applicable. Whatever the case, you may have these items lying around your home, office, or shop, depending on your situation. We have these items in our workshop, so you can imagine how handy they might be in serious storm or power outage situation.
